Silent Hill: The Letters (GTA V Machinima)

Many years ago, Trevor left home, leaving behind his seriously ill mother, who, feeling weak and desperate, drove him away. The only things that reminded him of his mother were her letters, saturated with hatred and pain. But then one day Trevor, obeying a long-forgotten feeling of guilt, decides to visit her. And he, clutching an old photograph in his hands, from which a young and still healthy mother looked at him with a smile, returns home, not yet suspecting that he will find himself in a nightmare generated by Silent Hill.

PS: Thanks for watching.

Ten-minute opening, long shots (no text). Yes, it creates an atmosphere, but the author clearly went too far. References are out of place. This is the mention of Mary in the letter when you are trying to get into the stories this video, rather than remembering the second SH, causes… nothing. It just ruins the atmosphere of the video itself. If this is done in order to determine the approximate time period of what is happening and thus explain the lack of mobile phones, then fine. The dialogue with the mother behind the door is perceived not as a reference, a tribute, but as a blatant copy. In Born from a wish it was a surprise. Here you know the end of the scene from the very beginning. Why does GG decide that his mother was not in the Hospital if he himself was not in Brookhaven? Because the bed isn’t made at home? But the feature with text and items pleased me.
Anyway, thanks for digging in :3

Damn it’s very cool, but 40 minutes is too much. I rewinded it repeatedly because, well, simply nothing happened. Perfectly creates the atmosphere, the music and sounds from SH fit in perfectly, but it’s too drawn out.

I think that if the hero had immediately spoken about the death of his mother, then the further half of the film and the subsequent nightmares that haunt him would not have made any sense. All subsequent events pushed the hero towards the truth. He stuffed all the memories of the tragedy into a suitcase and threw it into the sea, but the suitcase itself nevertheless remains, even if it lies at the very bottom. It’s the same with the subconscious, inside of which these memories are hidden. Therefore, once in the apartment, he only speculates. He is tormented by strange feelings and doubts, he is confused, because the real world has just shattered some of his illusions that he lived with for many years. Hence Brookhaven, where his mother never lay, but he convinced himself that she was alive and was simply being treated there, going crazy. And that everything is fine.

I had an idea to use a scene with a flashback, which in reality follows after the “planes” – in the apartment. So that he comes in immediately and remembers. But as I said above, it would be pointless for all further scenes. Then the film would most likely end half an hour earlier, because.To. the whole point would have already happened. But you must admit that this is somehow wrong, right? Like James, the hero needed to face his nightmares embodied in reality, just like monsters who looked like patients in a straitjacket, reminding him of his sick mother, etc.d. This should have prompted him to remember. Therefore, after guesses and misconceptions, he, like us viewers, gets all the answers closer to the end.

Brookhaven was not shown https://supa-casino.co.uk/withdrawal/ for one simple reason: there is no model of this area. There was an option to do the scenes on a Green Screen, but it would have looked just as sloppy, because.To. it would be necessary to take screenshots from the same CX2 or CX3 of this hospital and then substitute the hero there. And the games are very different graphically, so it wouldn’t look the best, just the so-called hack. 🙂 Of course, it would be possible to find some locations in the game that looked like a hospital, but I think the audience would determine that this is not Brookhaven. If we do show it, then everything is exactly as it is, and not present the area as something it is not. 🙂

Thanks for the criticism. For your opinion on the camera work too. )

The film itself is full of various references.

About Born from a wish. It is very difficult to please different kinds of viewers, if you create, try to come up with something new, even in the conditions of GTA, it will not always suit everyone, just like you try to make references that you seem to leave for the fans, but on the contrary they are criticized for finding them, which is strange. Maybe well deserved, maybe not.

As for the mother, the hero built an illusion, invented a non-existent world, buried memories of his mother deep in his subconscious and lived perceiving everything as an illusion. But the truth was hidden deep in the subconscious and it was embodied in the form of letters that only the main character saw. The letters came again, again and again, like a hidden pain that periodically makes itself felt. He invented the hospital, and he came up with the idea that she was lying there and being treated, he came up with much more to protect himself from pain and save himself from guilt. As a rule, letters make themselves felt more and more often and he decides to visit his mother, which ultimately turns out for him to be the knowledge of the truth about what really happened.

Again, in this story there is a reference to James from CX2, also familiar to all fans of the series.

This was not an attempt to create something new, but to make a film based on references to your favorite game, creating a little of your own story against the backdrop of all this.

This is understandable, but at the moment when he says that she is not in Brookhaven, he is still denying her death. He doesn’t say, "I feel, that my mother is not in the hospital,” he is absolutely sure that she is not there. At this moment we don’t know that the mother is dead. Looks illogical.

OK. I probably just didn’t expect that there would be anything original there, but the degree of copy-paste was upsetting.

I think that if the hero had immediately spoken about the death of his mother, then the further half of the film and the subsequent nightmares that haunt him would not have made any sense.

And I didn’t write that he had to say that. Of course, this is the main outline of the plot, but you could have stopped by Brookhaven, left a note, said that for some reason there are no bills for hospital services. At least the same “I feel / It seems to me”, and not the confident “She’s not there, because she’s not there, because I said so”. Because exactly at the moment when he says it, it sounds like hackwork, nothing more.

Then the film would most likely end half an hour earlier, because.To. the whole point would have already happened. But you must admit that this is somehow wrong, right?

Absolutely. I haven’t written anything against this statement.
By the way, at first I thought it wasn’t your machinima. The camera work was still pleasing (but as if I understood something about it). And the scene with the planes was very surreal.
