Silent Hunter 4: Wolves of the Pacific – U-Boat Missions: Review

Romanian unit Ubisoft is distinguished by an enviable love for the theme of the Second World War – two popular WW2 brands are assigned to the Bucharest studio: a cross-platform arcade-aviation shooting gallery Blazing Angels and hardcore submarine simulator Silent Hunter. The first attracts a large army of lovers of scripted fun in the spirit of Call of Duty, while the second is aimed exclusively at old-school gamers with incredible perseverance and patience. But, despite the fundamental differences, both series are popular enough for further sequel production. And if “Angels of Death” (Russian-language greetings from “Akella") have already managed to acquire a full-fledged sequel, then the fans "Silent Hunter"For now we have to settle for a small addon.

Silent Hunter IV: Wolves of the Pacific – U-Boat Missions ("Silent Hunter IV: Wolves of the Pacific – German Campaign", through the efforts of "Beeches") is a classic example of a good addition. Two new campaigns, several interesting innovations and an expanded range of submarine cruisers – this will not be enough for the fifth part, but just right for the expansion.

U-Boat Missions lives up to https://lotterygamescasino.co.uk/ its name. The developers went to the public meeting and added a couple of German single-player offshoots to the game. The remaining parties to the conflict were left behind. The events of the addon take place in the waters of the Indian Ocean, in the period from 1943 to 1944. We, in the role of commander of a new submarine, take up military duty with the aim of striking American convoys off the coast of Australia and Singapore.

In addition to the rank and file, so-called “historical figures” now live on board the submarine. In fact, these crew members are not virtual prototypes of famous fascist submariners, representing more “pumped up” specialists – some increase the speed of movement, others are professionally engaged in repair work or expand the radius of detection of enemies on the radar.

The second significant new feature of U-Boat Missions was the ability to call for reinforcements directly on the battlefield. Having given a signal for help to the base, you can seriously count on the arrival of a small squadron of bombers and military cruisers. However, you have to rely on a “support group” only near your home port – the allies refuse to send troops to distant patrol areas.

In graphical terms, the expansion remained marking time – in other words, it retained a nice picture and colossal system requirements – just as the colorful army of glitches and terrible brakes has not gone away. Although, it would seem, the authors should have worked on optimization first.

Silent Hunter 4: Wolves of the Pacific – U-Boat Missions is an excellent opportunity to continue your acquaintance with perhaps the best underwater combat simulator to date. For beginners, it’s better to mark your familiarity with the series by purchasing the original – the tutorial is clearer and there are more opportunities.

Pros: challenging and interesting gameplay; excellent graphics.
Cons: a large number of bugs; high demands on computer resources.
